In a significant crackdown on house thefts, the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (South West Zone), along with LB Nagar and Rachakonda Commissionerate police, apprehended Jaganatham Prabhu (33), a habitual offender involved in a string of burglaries across the city.
A native of Vaddepally, Bodhan village in Nizamabad District, Prabhu was currently residing in Upparpally, Ranga Reddy District, and working as a mason. According to police, he had committed thefts in areas under LB Nagar, Uppal, and Mailardevpally Police Stations, with at least 10 previous housebreaking cases linked to him.
During his arrest, authorities recovered a massive haul of stolen goods — 31.456 tolas of gold ornaments, estimated to be worth Rs31 lakh. The stolen gold was seized from his possession following a targeted investigation based on recent theft patterns.
Police said Prabhu meticulously targeted locked homes during daytime hours when occupants were away. The gold and cash were swiftly sold or hidden to avoid detection. His arrest is expected to lead to a reduction in similar thefts in the region.
