The Delhi Police have arrested Jagabandhu Mallik, a notorious thief from Nilagiri, Odisha, in connection with a high-profile Rs80 lakh burglary at the residence of a builder in Delhi’s CR Park locality.

Jagabandhu, a resident of the Ishwarpur Police Outpost area in Balasore district, is part of a three-member gang that executed the daring theft. After stealing the money, the trio fled, attempting to return to their respective states with the looted cash.

During the getaway, one of the accused, Ashutosh Mallik, was arrested by police at a railway station. Another suspect is believed to have escaped to Bihar and remains at large. Jagabandhu successfully reached Nilagiri with a Rs20 lakh share of the stolen funds.

Following a multi-state investigation and coordination with Odisha authorities, Delhi Police tracked and arrested Jagabandhu, recovering the Rs20 lakh from his possession. He becomes the second gang member in custody, narrowing the manhunt to one remaining fugitive.

Officials highlight the inter-state complexity of the case and have praised the swift collaboration between regional police units.

The investigation continues to identify the last suspect and determine the full scope of the gang’s operations.
