TORONTO — The Toronto Police Service has announced the arrest of a 36-year-old man following a multi-province human trafficking investigation spanning southern Ontario and British Columbia.
The investigation began in June 2025 when the Human Trafficking Unit initiated a probe into suspected trafficking activity. According to police, Jaden Grant-Vanderland used manipulation, coercion, and control to traffic a female victim for sexual services.
It is alleged that Grant-Vanderland transported the victim between Ontario and B.C., keeping all money earned through the sexual services she was forced to provide. The victim was not acting independently and was allegedly under the trafficker’s influence and direction throughout.
On Thursday, July 10, 2025, officers from the Toronto Police Human Trafficking Enforcement Team arrested Grant-Vanderland in Toronto. He faces several serious charges, including:
Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting
Trafficking in Persons by Exercising Control
Material Benefit from Trafficking a Person Over 18
Receiving Material Benefit from Sexual Services
Procuring a Person for Sexual Services
Exercising Control Over a Person for Sexual Services
Advertising Another Person’s Sexual Services
He was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. in room 107.
Police have released an image of the accused and believe there may be more victims. They are encouraging anyone affected by similar situations to come forward, even if they choose not to pursue criminal charges. Support services and exit strategies are available for all victims of trafficking.
Human Trafficking is a serious crime involving the recruitment, transportation, or control of individuals for the purpose of exploitation—whether sexual or forced labour. Victims may be of any gender, age, or nationality and are often controlled through fear, violence, or manipulation.
