LINCOLN, Neb. — Three people accused of an ATM robbery in Omaha were arrested Wednesday following a traffic stop on I-80 in Lancaster County, authorities said.

A Lancaster County sheriff’s deputy stopped a Nissan Altima at about 2 p.m. near 56th Street for unsafe passing and changing lanes. According to Chief Deputy Ben Houchin, the deputy smelled marijuana inside the vehicle, which had three occupants.

The driver, Jacob Wallace, 22, consented to a search, and deputies found three backpacks containing $140,000. Further investigation revealed that one passenger had an outstanding theft warrant in Texas.

Deputies determined that Wallace and his passengers, Kendris Boston Jr., 21, and Kaleb Tshibangu, 25, all from Texas, were allegedly responsible for an Omaha ATM robbery earlier that day. The trio was initially lodged in Lancaster County Jail for possession of stolen property.

On Friday, the suspects were formally arrested on Omaha warrants for robbery and will be transported to Omaha at a later date.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident and the connection between the suspects and the ATM robbery.
