by Amelia Crawford

Florence, KY – Around 4:50 AM on August 26, Boone County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a series of vehicle break-ins reported in the Cheshire Ridge subdivision in Florence.

Victims reported stolen items and, in at least one case, damage from suspects forcibly prying open a car door. Investigators followed leads to an address at 179 Upper Court in Union, Kentucky, where deputies located stolen car keys on a picnic table and additional stolen property in a nearby trash can.

After obtaining and executing a search warrant at the residence, deputies recovered multiple stolen items. Two suspects—Jacob T. Scudder, 24, of Union, and Issac M. New, 26, of Ludlow—were arrested. They matched surveillance footage provided by one of the victims.

Charges Filed:

1 count of Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree

1 count of Theft by Unlawful Taking ($1,000–$10,000)

1 count of Theft of a Legend Drug (1st offense or under $300)

11 counts of Attempted Theft by Unlawful Taking (vehicle contents, $500–$1,000)

Jacob Scudder also faces an additional charge for possession of marijuana.

Both men were transported to Boone County Jail, where they remain in custody.
