JACKSONVILLE, IL – James K. Macrander, 45, of Jacksonville, was arrested on February 15, 2025, on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a minor under the age of 13. According to authorities, the arrest came after police were notified of a potential sexual assault involving a child.

State’s Attorney Gray Noll confirmed that the charge is a Class X felony and, if convicted, Macrander faces a prison sentence ranging from six to 60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Macrander appeared in court on Tuesday, where he was denied pre-trial release. The court issued orders prohibiting Macrander from having any contact with the alleged victim or any other minor, and from accessing the internet.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 18, 2025 to further review the case. The serious nature of the charges highlights the gravity of offenses involving minors and underscores the legal consequences of predatory behavior.
