JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A major drug trafficking operation in Jacksonville’s Brentwood neighborhood has been dismantled after a joint investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Narcotics Unit and District 5 Task Force. Officers seized a cache of deadly drugs, firearms, and stolen property, including enough fentanyl to kill over 600,000 people—a number equivalent to half the population of Jacksonville.
According to JSO, a tip led investigators to a suspected drug house on West 27th Street. After weeks of surveillance, a search warrant was executed last week. Inside, officers uncovered the following:
1,200+ grams of fentanyl
1,387.2 grams of cathinone
492.5 grams of crack cocaine
165.1 grams of powder cocaine
115.2 grams of ecstasy
7.1 grams of heroin
6.2 pounds of marijuana
Authorities also recovered five firearms, including one with an illegal switch and another that had been reported stolen.
Five suspects were arrested and face multiple felony charges:
Yahya Ali, 48
Alshawn Martin, 47
Bilal Ali, 20
Tywanna Davenport, 40
James Johnson, 54
JSO emphasized the drug house’s proximity to a church, public library, and Andrew Jackson High School, making the takedown even more critical to community safety.
“We’re making Jacksonville a safer place for you and your family,” said the Sheriff’s Office in a statement.
Residents are urged to report suspicious activity by calling 904-630-0500.
