SHREVEPORT, LA — A violent altercation involving a hatchet left one man seriously injured in Shreveport on Friday afternoon, prompting a swift police response.

Authorities were called to the 500 block of E. 70th Street around 1 p.m., where they found a man suffering from a severe laceration near his right eye. The victim was reportedly in need of stitches due to the extent of his injuries.

According to witnesses, a fight had broken out between two individuals in a nearby parking lot. One of them, identified as Jack Handy, allegedly wielded a hatchet during the confrontation and inflicted the injury.

Police say the cause of the dispute and how it escalated to violence remain under investigation. As of now, no further details about the motive or charges filed have been made public.
