Ivory Edwards Arrested After Assault in Walker County

Suspect accused of assaulting elderly woman, fleeing

PARRISH, Ala. (WBRC) – A 41-year-old man from Meridian, Mississippi, identified as Ivory Edwards, has been arrested following a violent incident in Walker County, Alabama.

According to the Parrish Police Department, Edwards allegedly broke into a home on Main Street on Wednesday, attempted to sexually assault one woman, and physically assaulted her elderly mother. After the attack, he fled the scene, sparking a 30-hour manhunt.

Edwards was captured near Meridian, Mississippi with assistance from local law enforcement there.

He now faces multiple charges in Alabama, including:

Burglary 2nd Degree

Elderly Abuse and Neglect 2nd Degree

Interfering with an Emergency Call

Sexual Misconduct

Authorities also confirmed Edwards had an active warrant in Mississippi for forcible rape, and a criminal history including robbery and kidnapping charges.

Edwards is currently in Mississippi custody and will be extradited back to Walker County after legal proceedings in that state are complete.
