WATERBURY — A 24-year-old man, Isuel Cordero of Waterbury, was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing two power drills from The Home Depot while armed with a box cutter.
Police said Cordero was charged with first-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny following the incident.
According to Waterbury Police Sgt. Joseph Morais, officers responded around 9:19 a.m. to the Bank Street retailer after receiving a report that an individual had placed two Ryobi drills in his backpack.
“When approached by Home Depot staff, Cordero pushed staff and brandished a box cutter before leaving the store on foot,” Morais said. No staff members were injured during the confrontation.
Police later located Cordero on Benedict Street and took him into custody. The stolen drills, valued at $659, were not recovered.
