KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A Salisbury man has been arrested in connection with a 2022 homicide in Kannapolis, authorities announced.
On June 22, 2022, Kannapolis police responded to a shooting at 601 S. Cannon Blvd.. Upon arrival, officers found Kenon Lamonte Jones, 26, of Kannapolis, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified Isiah Michael Lobban, then 18, as the primary suspect. After reviewing the evidence with the Cabarrus County District Attorney’s Office, police obtained warrants for first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
However, before Kannapolis authorities could make an arrest, Lobban was taken into custody in South Carolina on unrelated charges on July 5, 2022.
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Lobban, now 21, completed his sentence in South Carolina and was extradited back to Kannapolis, where he was served with the outstanding warrants related to Jones’ murder.
He was booked at the Cabarrus County Magistrate’s Office and is currently being held without bond at the Cabarrus County Jail, pending trial.
