In a significant breakthrough, Rajendra Nagar police arrested four members of a burglary gang that had been targeting locked houses across the city, recovering stolen property valued at Rs75 lakh. The operation also led to the seizure of a stolen motorcycle, a getaway SUV, and substantial quantities of gold, silver, and cash.
Addressing the media, DCP Vinod Kumar Meena said a special team, led by station in-charge Neeraj Birthare, was formed following a string of burglaries. The team acted on a tip-off that suspects were moving around in an SUV in Kundan Nagar. As police approached, the accused attempted to flee, leading to a 5-km chase before they were apprehended.

Following their arrest, police recovered:
200 grams of gold ornaments
5 kg of silver jewellery
Antique coins
Rs3.13 lakh in cash
A stolen bike
An SUV used in the thefts
The gang would first reconnoitre residential colonies, identifying houses that appeared unoccupied. Entry methods were tailored to each target—climbing pipes, cutting ventilation grills, or breaking main gate locks. They committed the thefts at pre-decided times, avoided using mobile phones to prevent tracking, and fled to other states after selling stolen goods.
The suspects have confessed to four burglary incidents, and further investigations are underway to uncover more cases linked to the group.
