ABERDEEN, N.C. – An 18-year-old Laurinburg man was arrested on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop on March 6, 2025. The Aberdeen Police Department announced the charges against Isaiah Giles on March 12.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug & Weapon Discovery
Officers pulled over a vehicle for expired registration. Upon approaching the car, they identified Giles and a passenger.
According to Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle, leading to the discovery of:
An AR-15 rifle concealed in the car
Various drug paraphernalia
A bag containing a white powdery substance (suspected narcotics)
White crushed pills on Giles’ person, later confirmed as Ecstasy
Charges & Legal Proceedings
Giles faces the following charges:
Felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance
Concealed handgun permit violation
He was taken before a Moore County magistrate and issued a $2,500 secured bond.
