
A Chicago man has been charged with felony theft following the recovery of approximately $400,000 worth of stolen fitness equipment and other merchandise.
Authorities said Isadore House, 57, faces a Class 1 felony theft charge after investigators traced the stolen goods to his store and storage unit.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Organized Retail Crime Unit, which launched in 2023, led the investigation after discovering stolen fitness equipment from a Joliet cargo theft was being sold on Facebook Marketplace.
Undercover officers purchased multiple items over several weeks from a storefront on West 87th Street and a storage unit on West 85th Street, both linked to House.
Last Thursday, police searched the locations and recovered workout equipment, gloves, and other stolen merchandise.
House was arrested the following day and released pending trial. His next court date is Thursday.
Since its inception, the Organized Retail Crime Unit has recovered over $5 million in stolen merchandise across Cook County.
