Boone County jury finds Bryant guilty of fatal shooting

by Sophia Bennett

COLUMBIA, MO — A Boone County jury has found Isaac Bryant guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the fatal shooting of Demetrius Ware on May 8, 2022.

The verdict was reached on Thursday after a three-day trial, according to online court records.

Police were called to the 800 block of Grand Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on the night of the shooting. Ware, 37, was found with a gunshot wound and later pronounced dead at the hospital, per previous KOMU 8 reports.

According to court documents, Bryant’s ex-girlfriend—who shared children with Ware—told investigators that Ware was at her home the night of the shooting. She said Bryant arrived unexpectedly while Ware was outside, and shortly after, she heard gunshots.

Bryant is scheduled to be sentenced on October 17 at the Boone County Courthouse.
