Solan police have arrested Iqbal alias Bittu (27), a key kingpin of an interstate narcotics gang, from Zirakpur, Punjab, recovering 87 grams of chitta (heroin) from his possession. Bittu, a resident of Kaithal, Haryana, has been supplying narcotics to various parts of Himachal Pradesh for a significant period, according to authorities.
The arrest follows a series of operations that traced the backward supply chain of the gang. On January 4, the Solan Special Investigation Unit apprehended Jitesh alias Munna (28) from Clean Solan and Neeraj (31) from Dhalyana village, Salogra, at Salogra Mela Ground, recovering over 6 grams of chitta/heroin. Both were remanded to four days’ police custody under a case registered at Sadar Police Station, Solan, and both have prior criminal records.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Sahil (25) from Pajo village, Kotlanala, and Karan (22) from Saproon, Solan, with 7.23 grams of chitta/heroin on January 6. During interrogation, the gang’s kingpin, Bittu, was identified and arrested after police traced his involvement in the narcotics network.
Addressing the media, Solan SP Gaurav Singh emphasized, “Our zero-tolerance policy against drugs will continue. We will target the entire supply chain to protect our youth from this menace.”
The operation demonstrates the police’s ongoing efforts to dismantle interstate drug networks and curb narcotics trafficking in Himachal Pradesh.
