Influencer Kirti Patel, a controversial internet personality from Gujarat, was arrested by Surat Police in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. The arrest followed charges of extortion filed by a builder who accused Patel of threatening him with a fabricated honeytrap case.
The complaint was lodged by builder Vajubhai Katrodia at the Kapodra police station in Surat nearly a year ago. According to the complaint, Patel had demanded Rs2 crore from Katrodia, threatening to implicate him in a false honeytrap scandal if he did not comply.
Following the complaint, Patel had gone into hiding. Police had been searching for her until they received a tip-off that led to her arrest on Tuesday.
