Sakti (Chhattisgarh): In a shocking incident, two men have been arrested for allegedly murdering their friend over a minor dispute involving Rs1,800 and a mobile phone password in Bandora village under Malkharoda police station limits.
The victim, Rahul Kurmi (25), who ran a small laundry centre named Rahul Auto, was attacked on the afternoon of March 28 near his residence.
According to police, the accused — Indrakumar Gabel (35) and Narayan Yadav (20) — arrived at Rahul’s house and confronted him over money allegedly taken from a pocket and a changed mobile phone lock. What began as a verbal argument soon escalated into violence.
Investigators said Narayan allegedly strangled Rahul using a cloth, while Indrakumar repeatedly attacked him with a brick, causing fatal injuries to his head and face. The assault took place in broad daylight close to the victim’s home.

Acting swiftly, police detained the suspects within hours. During interrogation, both accused allegedly confessed to the murder, stating that the dispute over money and the phone password triggered the attack. They were formally arrested on March 29 and remanded to judicial custody.
All three individuals belonged to the same village and were known to each other, making the incident even more disturbing for local residents. The crime has sparked concern in the area, with villagers highlighting how minor disputes can escalate into deadly violence.
Police officials said the case was solved within six hours, crediting quick response and local intelligence. Further investigation is ongoing, though no additional angles have emerged so far.
