On Thursday, four individuals, including a medical store operator, were arrested in Indore for their involvement in the illegal trade of narcotic substances. The operation was carried out after the police received a tip-off regarding the illicit activity. Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed the arrests and said that authorities seized 1,365 Alprazolam tablets and a scooter used in the crime.
The suspects were allegedly purchasing the drugs at low prices and selling them at inflated rates—up to five to ten times higher than the market value—to youths in the city.
The Crime Branch, through careful surveillance and intelligence gathering, tracked the suspects. On the day of the operation, the police were patrolling near Chaitanya Hanuman Temple in the Rajkumar vegetable market when they noticed three men on a black scooter acting suspiciously. Upon seeing the officers, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended.
The arrested men, Farhan Qureshi (26), Mohammad Ali (25), and Mohammad Hussain (20), were found to be in possession of 1,365 Alprazolam tablets. When questioned about the source of the drugs, they failed to provide any legal explanation.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Kritkarya Sharda (28), a medical store operator from Mhow. Sharda was identified as the key supplier of the Alprazolam tablets, selling them to Qureshi at a significantly lower cost. Qureshi then sold them at exorbitant prices to his associates, who distributed the drugs within the city.
The authorities have registered cases under the relevant sections of the law, and further investigations are ongoing to identify any additional suspects involved in the narcotic trade.
