Indiana Trooper Andrew Kocsis Charged with Theft and Fraud

ISP officer faces felony and misdemeanor charges

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police trooper Andrew Kocsis, 39, has been charged with theft, obstruction of justice, and fraud following a lengthy investigation, according to a news release from the ISP.

Kocsis faces preliminary charges including:

Theft (Level 6 Felony)

Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felony)

Fraud (Class A Misdemeanor)

Authorities were alerted to potential criminal conduct in October 2024 when a victim came forward. Kocsis served as a trooper for 17 years, most recently assigned to the ISP General Headquarters in Indianapolis.

No additional details about the allegations have been released as the investigation is ongoing.

Kocsis is scheduled to appear in St. Joseph County Superior Court 2 for his initial hearing on July 8 at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, he has been placed on administrative leave without pay.
