BACOLOD CITY – A joint police operation in Bacolod led to the arrest of an Indian national, Joginder Geong, for multiple criminal offenses tied to his home country. The 40-year-old, also known by the aliases “Joginder Geyong” and “Kant Gupta,” was apprehended at a residence in Santa Lucia Gardens Subdivision, Barangay Taculing, on Monday afternoon.

Geong, a fugitive, is considered an undesirable alien under the Philippine Immigration Act for violating immigration laws. According to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Geong had been living in the city since 2022, using a fraudulent Nepalese passport.

Police Capt. Dax Santillan of Police Station 6, which led the operation, confirmed that Geong had been renting the house alone. After the arrest, Geong was turned over to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Fugitive Search Unit (FSU).

The arrest followed a communication from the Embassy of India in Manila, which, on June 22, requested Geong’s arrest and deportation. The BI FSU revealed that Geong, under the alias “Kant Gupta,” had committed serious offenses including murder, attempted murder, extortion, and robbery in India.

Geong’s criminal activity extended beyond his fraudulent identity. He had obtained a driver’s license from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) under the name “Kant Gupta,” listing a different address in Barangay Taculing.

Further investigation showed that Geong had connections to an organized crime syndicate and was sentenced to life imprisonment in India for violating arms laws. His last recorded entry into the Philippines occurred on January 31, 2024, under the fake identity.

The BI has previously deported other foreign nationals involved in terrorism and crime, including two Indian nationals labeled as “terrorists” after their arrest in Iloilo City.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco confirmed that Geong would be deported for being an undesirable and undocumented alien. Tansingco added that Geong is also allegedly linked to the Khalistani movement, a separatist group in India advocating for an independent Sikh state.

Geong’s arrest highlights the Philippines’ continued efforts to combat illegal immigration and international criminal activity.
