Illegal Agent Arrested in Tiruchi for Attempting to Send Youths to Cambodia for ‘Cyber Slavery’

In a joint operation by the Protector of Emigrants (POE), Chennai, and the Crime Branch CID (CBCID) of the Tamil Nadu Police, an illegal agent was arrested in Tiruchi for attempting to send three young men to Cambodia for fraudulent employment under the guise of cyber slavery. The arrested individual, identified as Fathima, aged 40, had been operating an illegal network promising jobs abroad, but instead intended to exploit the youths in scam-based and exploitative work environments.

The operation successfully intercepted the youths before they could travel, and the agent was apprehended during a raid at her office. Fathima was allegedly offering fake employment opportunities with cyber companies in Cambodia that were actually fronts for cyber slavery—a form of exploitation where individuals are forced to work under inhumane conditions with little or no pay.

The Protector of Emigrants confirmed that the youths were being duped into believing they would be employed in legitimate companies, only to later discover they were being exploited for illegal activities in a foreign country. Thanks to the POE’s vigilance and cooperation with the Tamil Nadu Police, the youths were saved from potential exploitation.

Fathima, who was operating in Tiruchi, has been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to identify other potential victims and uncover the full extent of the fraudulent scheme. The authorities have warned the public about such job scams, particularly those offering work abroad without proper verification or legal employment channels.
