IGI Airport Police Arrest Ikram for Fake UAE Visa Scam

by Ananya Mehta

The IGI Airport Police have arrested Ikram alias Ikramu, a 43-year-old resident of Sonta Rasoolpur, Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, for his role in a fake UAE visa scam. The arrest followed an investigation initiated after an Indian passenger, Nasim, was deported from the UAE after immigration authorities identified a fake tourist visa affixed to his passport.

The case dates back to December 2017, when Nasim was detained and sent back to India after UAE immigration officials discovered the counterfeit visa. During his interrogation, Nasim revealed that he had paid Rs 1.6 lakh to a group of agents, including Adil and Madid, for arranging the travel. These two agents were arrested earlier, leading the police to identify Ikram as a key conspirator in the fraud.

Despite several raids on his premises, Ikram had managed to evade capture until recently. Acting on intelligence inputs, a team led by Inspector Sushil Goyal and supervised by ACP IGI Airport tracked down Ikram and arrested him in Lucknow.

During interrogation, Ikram admitted to working with a network of agents who specialized in providing fake visas to individuals seeking overseas employment. The group charged hefty amounts for counterfeit documents, preying on the victims’ aspirations for better job opportunities abroad.

The police are now investigating Ikram’s financial transactions and his connections to other fraudulent activities, with an aim to dismantle the entire visa fraud syndicate. The arrest is part of an ongoing probe into a larger network that duped individuals seeking to migrate to the UAE and other foreign destinations.
