BOSTON — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested 20-year-old Daniel Encarnacion-Sanchez, a Dominican national, on February 7, 2025, after he was charged with drug trafficking crimes and assaulting a police officer.

Encarnacion-Sanchez had previously been arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on November 21, 2023, for illegally entering the United States. He was served with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge.

Following his arrest, Encarnacion-Sanchez was arraigned in Malden District Court on November 27, 2024, on charges related to trafficking a controlled substance and possession of drugs with intent to distribute. ICE Boston then filed an immigration detainer on December 3, 2024, while Encarnacion-Sanchez was held at the Middlesex County House of Corrections.

On February 6, 2025, the Boston Police Department arrested Encarnacion-Sanchez again, this time for assault and battery on a police officer causing injury and trafficking heroin and crack cocaine. Despite the charges, Encarnacion-Sanchez was released on personal recognizance by the Dorchester District Court on February 7, 2025.

Immediately following his release, ICE agents took Encarnacion-Sanchez into custody. He was subsequently removed from the United States and deported to the Dominican Republic on March 16, 2025.

This arrest is part of ICE’s continued efforts to combat criminal activity and enforce U.S. immigration laws.
