Two men were arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing high-tension power cables worth Rs 1.4 crore from the CESC New Cossipore generating station.
The accused, Ibrahim Sk and Asraf Morol, residents of Natunhat village in South 24 Parganas, were apprehended near the Gun & Shell Factory, Cossipore. Authorities recovered the stolen cables and have initiated further investigation to identify any accomplices and track the handling of the stolen materials.
Police are also examining if the theft was linked to a larger network involved in the sale of stolen industrial materials.
