Ibrahim Ahmed, 24, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison following a violent attack on his landlord in Croydon.
The assault occurred on 2 February when the victim, a man in his 40s, was discovered with severe stab wounds near his home. One of the wounds caused a collapsed lung, putting the victim’s life at risk. Ahmed launched the unprovoked attack as the man returned from work, stabbing him on the doorstep before fleeing the scene.
Passersby quickly intervened, performing first aid until emergency services arrived. Police and London Ambulance Service responded to multiple 999 calls from witnesses.
Ahmed was arrested two days later and charged with attempted murder. After a seven-day trial at Croydon Crown Court, he was found guilty on 16 September. On 18 December, he was sentenced to 21 years in prison with an additional five years on licence, requiring a minimum of 14 years behind bars.
Detective Constable Simona Stankute praised the victim’s bravery and the swift assistance of the public, while Detective Inspector Danielle Power highlighted the crucial work of the police and prosecution team in securing justice.
