Hyderabad: Hyderabad Task Force sleuths arrested two men in connection with the robbery of Rs6 lakh from Kerala-based garments businessman PV Rinshad after he was shot near an SBI ATM in Koti on January 31.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Furkhan Ahmed (36) from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Md Taiyyab Tyagi (30) of Shaheen Nagar, Balapur. Police recovered a country-made pistol, 35 live rounds, two magazines, Rs2.3 lakh in cash, and two mobile phones from the duo.
Modus Operandi
According to authorities, Taiyyab, an app-based cab driver, used his early-morning trips through Abids, Koti, and Nampally to identify passengers carrying large cash deposits. Facing financial difficulties and with prior involvement in a robbery in Muzaffarnagar, he contacted his uncle Naushad and cousin Danish Tyagi, who brought in Furkhan, Abid, and Faheem Ahmed, all from Uttar Pradesh.
On January 31, Furkhan and Faheem waited near the Koti ATM while Taiyyab and Abid conducted reconnaissance near Nampally. They tracked Rinshad to the SBI ATM, attempted to rob him, and when he resisted, Furkhan fired two rounds, one of which hit the victim in the leg. The perpetrators snatched the cash bag and fled on the victim’s two-wheeler.
The gang regrouped at Shaheen Nagar before dispersing to different states.
Arrest and Investigation
Six special police teams used technical surveillance to track the suspects and apprehended Furkhan and Taiyyab at Shaheen Nagar on February 24. Police are continuing efforts to locate the remaining absconding members of the gang.
