Hyderabad police have successfully dismantled two drug smuggling operations, arresting five individuals and recovering 10 kg of ganja.
In the first operation, Dara Sravan, a local peddler from Amberpet, was apprehended while collecting a package from Shaikh Azhar, an auto driver from Akola, Maharashtra. Azhar reportedly sourced the ganja from Odisha and supplied it across multiple states. Authorities recovered three kilograms of the drug during this bust.
In a separate incident, three people—including two women—were caught near the bus parking area at Sriramghar Hanuman Mandir, Gowliguda, attempting to smuggle seven kilograms of ganja. The arrested were identified as Baijayathi Takri (36), Ghouri Jhara (35), and Dhanarjaya Khila (22), all from Odisha’s Malkangiri district. They had received the contraband from suppliers Dhaneshwar and Raju under instructions from a main operator, Sanjay. Their intended delivery was to Satish Singh in Mangalhat, Dhoolpet, but police intercepted them before the handover.
Cases have been registered in both instances, and investigations are ongoing. Key figures in the network—Sanjay, Dhaneshwar, Raju, and Satish Singh—are still at large.
