Hyderabad police conducted a successful operation against drug trafficking near the IMAX open ground, resulting in the arrest of three peddlers and the seizure of narcotics worth Rs 23.5 lakh.

The accused, identified as Mohd Gulam Jilani (42, Jharkhand), Feroz Bin Ali alias Sahil (20), and Suleman Khan (22, Attapur), were apprehended while moving suspiciously late at night. Authorities recovered 100 grams of Brown Sugar, 1,350 grams of dry ganja, seven mobile phones, and a Honda motorcycle from their possession.

During interrogation, Jilani admitted to sourcing the drugs from Odisha through an associate named Afsar, traveling to Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jaleshwar, and Balasore in October to procure 115 grams of Brown Sugar and 1,350 grams of ganja for Rs 3.5 lakh. Feroz and Suleman purchased small sachets from Jilani at Rs 5,000 per gram and sold them to consumers for Rs 8,000–10,000 per gram, making a profit of up to Rs 3,000 per gram.

Police confirmed that the accused sold 3 grams of Brown Sugar to Mohd Ahmed on November 4, which led to his tragic overdose death in Shivrampally.

The peddlers and seized contraband were handed over to Saifabad Police Station for further legal action under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath. Authorities said the bust is part of Hyderabad police’s ongoing crackdown on narcotics networks fueling addiction and fatalities in the city.
