Hyberabad Police have arrested five men allegedly involved in a Rs 3 crore online ticket booking and wallet fraud. The accused—C Sivanarayana, K Narayana Swamy, Anugula Rajkumar, Jadda Brahmaih, and Pericherla Varma—exploited a software glitch in a reputed travel company’s system between May and July this year.
According to police, the suspects, who were agents of the travel company, recharged their online wallets, booked tickets, and immediately canceled them. Due to a system error, both the refund and the original wallet amount were credited, effectively doubling the balance. The suspects repeated this process multiple times, illegally gaining Rs 3,00,91,683, said DCP Cyber-crime B Sai Sree.
In a related crackdown over the last week, cybercrime police detected 10 cybercrime cases and arrested 20 offenders nationwide. Of these, 14 arrests were linked to trading frauds, while the remaining involved various cyber scams. Authorities also seized 24 mobile phones and 19 SIM cards during investigations.
Police continue to probe the gang and are monitoring similar fraudulent activities to prevent further exploitation of digital systems.
