In a major breakthrough, Hyberabad Special Operation Teams from Balanagar zone, along with Kukatpally Police, apprehended a gang—including a serving police constable from Andhra Pradesh—while they planned to sell cocaine mixed with ephedrine at Kukatpally. Authorities seized drugs worth Rs 1 crore from their possession.

The arrested include Gunashekar, the supplier and serving Task Force Police constable from Andhra Pradesh; Tirupati constable Unnam Surendra alias Suri; Dothireddy Haribabu Reddy; Chegudi Mercy Margaret; Shaik Masthan Vali; Devaraju YesuBabu—all natives of Andhra Pradesh—and Appanna, a peddler from Bangalore.

The group was intercepted near Jaya Nagar, Kukatpally, as they were searching for buyers. Police recovered 820 grams of cocaine mixed with ephedrine, a digital weighing machine, and five mobile phones. Gunashekar reportedly proposed the sale of ephedrine for profit, attracting Surendra and others who conspired to sell the drug in Hyderabad’s high-demand market.

On June 2, as they moved toward Bhagyanagar, Kukatpally, the gang was intercepted by patrolling police due to suspicious behavior. One accused attempted to flee but was caught. Following questioning and search, the police seized the contraband and equipment used in the conspiracy.

The seizure followed procedures under the NDPS Act. Cyberabad Police urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and report any suspicious behavior to authorities.
