HONEA PATH, S.C. — Hunter Dean Shook was arrested on February 1 after allegedly stealing property from a local business and vandalizing Sirrine Street with graffiti, authorities reported.
Police said the graffiti included initials, symbols, and vulgar statements directed at law enforcement. The markings were located in an area where children wait daily for the school bus, raising safety concerns in the community.
Shook is also accused of bringing stolen property into a home on Sirrine Street, where the resident was reportedly aware that the items were stolen. These incidents occurred shortly after Shook was released from the Department of Corrections.
The Honea Path Police Department confirmed that Shook was charged in connection with the vandalism and theft. “This kind of behavior sets our community back and directly undermines the ongoing efforts to clean up this area and make it a safer, better place to live,” police said in a Facebook post.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any vandalism, theft, or suspicious activity. “Your call helps protect your neighbors, your kids, and your community,” the department said.
