the Delhi Police have arrested a housekeeper accused of orchestrating a burglary worth Rs1 crore at his employer’s residence in New Friends Colony, South Delhi. The accused, Sumit (33), was taken into custody from Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday.
During the arrest, police recovered a substantial portion of the stolen property, including luxury wristwatches, gold and diamond jewellery, and Rs13,500 in cash.
According to investigators, Sumit had been employed at the house and took advantage of his position to plan and execute the theft when the opportunity arose. A case was registered after the employer reported the missing items, leading to an investigation that traced Sumit’s location to Ambedkar Nagar.
Delhi Police officials stated that the recovery of high-value items was made possible through coordinated efforts and technical surveillance. Sumit is currently in police custody and will be presented in court. Further investigation is underway to determine if others were involved in the conspiracy.
