HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — Kandie L. Stowell, 40, of Hoosick Falls, has been arrested by the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday after allegedly possessing felony-weight controlled substances. This marks Stowell’s second narcotics-related arrest in just under a year, following a three-month investigation into her activities.
Stowell was set to be sentenced for a prior narcotics offense during a probation hearing scheduled for Wednesday but was arrested before the hearing after authorities secured a search warrant for her Fifth Street residence.
During the search, law enforcement recovered approximately **80 grams of cocaine and fentanyl, in addition to other narcotics and stimulants. Investigators also seized $4,134 in cash, drug paraphernalia, scales, and packaging materials. The Hoosick Falls Police Department assisted the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office in executing the search.
Following her arrest, Stowell was arraigned in Grafton Town Court, where Rensselaer County Assistant District Attorney Spencer Lane requested that Judge Francis Higgins remand Stowell to the Rensselaer County Jail. However, Judge Higgins opted to release Stowell on her own recognizance.
Charges against Stowell include:
Three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
Four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument
One count of criminal use of drug paraphernalia
The investigation into Stowell’s activities continues, and authorities are working to address the growing concerns related to the possession and distribution of controlled substances in the community.
