In a targeted crackdown on drug peddling, the Adampur police arrested a man carrying 120 intoxicating tablets and Rs6,500 in drug-related cash on Monday during a routine patrol near Sundarpur turn, Alawalpur.
DSP Kulwant Singh confirmed that the suspect, identified as Honey, a resident of Mohalla Ajit Nagar, Ward 10, Adampur, was apprehended after he attempted to flee upon spotting the police team. He was riding a motorbike with a suspicious polythene bag tied to its side.
Upon searching the bag, police recovered 120 tablets believed to be intoxicants, along with Rs6,500, suspected to be drug money. The motorbike used in the transportation has also been seized.
A case has been registered under Sections 22, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act at the Adampur police station in Jalandhar.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to trace the supply chain and potential accomplices linked to this drug network.
