Honduran Man Arrested for Burglary and Theft in Polk County

Eduardo Galeas Herrera, 59, faces charges after stealing from charity tent

Eduardo Rafael Galeas Herrera, a 59-year-old man from Honduras, was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) on Wednesday, April 2nd, for burglary and theft.

The incident occurred in Eloise, near Winter Haven, at approximately 3:30 AM on April 1st, when a witness saw Herrera stealing from a charity organization’s tent. Following an investigation, Herrera was identified as the suspect. A PCSO detective interviewed him, during which Herrera admitted to stealing property valued at around $300.

Herrera was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail, where he has been charged with burglary and petit theft. Authorities have confirmed that Herrera is in the U.S. illegally, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a hold on him.
