HAUBSTADT, Ind. — Two people were arrested early Monday morning after being caught burglarizing a home in Gibson County, officials said.

Deputies from the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office had received reports of ongoing burglaries at a residence in the 12000 block of South 200 East near Haubstadt. Extra patrols were requested in the area to monitor the property.

At around 5:10 a.m., a sergeant conducting a building check spotted a vehicle on the property that didn’t belong there and heard movement inside the residence. When a deputy arrived on scene, the suspects tried to flee through a window but were apprehended.

Authorities took into custody 53-year-old Homer Dersch and 33-year-old Katie Henderson, both from Oakland City. After a brief investigation, they were transported to the Gibson County Detention Center.
