Holly Sheppard Charged With Murder in 2018 Oklahoma Infant Death After Similar Case
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A woman has been arrested and charged with murder following a years-old investigation into the death of an infant she was babysitting in 2018, the Oklahoma City Police Department confirmed.
Authorities say Holly Sheppard had been caring for the infant for four days in 2018 when the child was hospitalized with severe head trauma. The baby died days later, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.
At the time, police said they could not determine who was responsible for the injuries, and no charges were filed.
The case was reopened in 2023 after Sheppard was arrested in Ponca City for critically injuring a 3-month-old baby in a separate incident. In 2024, she entered a blind plea in that case, which prompted further review of the 2018 investigation.
Now, seven years later, Sheppard is facing murder charges for the infant’s death in Oklahoma City. Authorities have not yet announced her court date or bond status.
The Oklahoma City Police Department has not released the identity of the 2018 victim but stated that the case highlights the importance of persistence in child abuse investigations.
