In a targeted operation, Sopore police have arrested a local man for drug peddling and seized a significant quantity of contraband from his possession.
According to a police spokesperson, the arrest occurred at a checkpoint set up in Maharajpora, Sopore. The accused has been identified as Himayun Rasool Kundoo, son of Ghulam Rasool Kundoo, and a resident of Sher Colony, Sopore.
During the search, officers recovered a substantial quantity of poppy straw, a banned substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and potential links with larger drug networks operating in the region.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity, reaffirming their commitment to combating the drug menace in Jammu & Kashmir.
