Continuing its focused crackdown on narcotics, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered a substantial quantity of narcotics in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials reported on Saturday.
In the first operation, Mattan Police Station received credible intelligence regarding Hilal Ahmad Wani, son of Farooq Ahmad Wani and a resident of Kralgund, Brah Mattan, who was allegedly hoarding drugs at his residence. A team, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate, raided the premises and seized approximately 4 kilograms of charas powder. Wani was arrested under the NDPS Act, and a case was registered. Investigations are ongoing to determine the supply chain.
In a separate operation, police at Sangam naka checkpoint intercepted Saber Ahmad Sheikh, son of Roni Sheikh, a resident of Delhi. A personal search revealed 14 grams of brown sugar, leading to his arrest. A case was filed at Bijbehara Police Station.
