HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) – A routine traffic stop for a burnt-out headlight in Hernando County led to the arrest of two individuals on drug trafficking charges.

On Monday, Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies stopped a gray Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Jonathan Skinner, with Jessica Eggleton as the passenger. During the stop, deputies discovered illegal substances inside the vehicle. A search revealed 27 grams of methamphetamine, 0.6 grams of cocaine, and various drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Skinner was arrested for possession of cocaine, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended or revoked license. Eggleton was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

Photos of the narcotics recovered during the bust were also shared by the sheriff’s office. The arrests highlight how even minor traffic violations can lead to significant drug-related busts in the community.
