ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A 44-year-old man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he broke into a convenience store south of Graham late Tuesday night.

According to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a business alarm at approximately 11:35 p.m. at a Convenience Store and Grill in the 3000 block of South N.C. Highway 87.

When deputies arrived, they found a man standing near the store’s back door. Authorities identified him as Henry Hamid Kamara Jr., who told deputies he was homeless and had recently been released from jail.

After a key holder arrived and the building was checked, deputies determined that more than $676 in cash and merchandise had been taken. Officials said all stolen items and money were recovered and returned to the store owner. No estimate was provided for damage to the building.

Deputies said Kamara later became combative at the magistrate’s office, where he allegedly attempted to fight detention staff and struck the arresting deputy.

Kamara is charged with:

First-degree felony burglary

Misdemeanor assault on a government official

Two counts of misdemeanor larceny

He was issued a $10,000 secured bond. The case remains under investigation.
