SUMMIT, N.J. — A former employee of Smythe Volvo has been charged after allegedly stealing three vehicles from the dealership over the last eight weeks.
Henrri Bonilla, 30, of Newark, faces multiple charges, including:
One count of second-degree motor vehicle theft
Three counts of third-degree motor vehicle theft
One count of third-degree receiving stolen property
One count of third-degree conspiracy to commit motor vehicle theft
While employed at the Summit dealership, Bonilla reportedly used his access to key fobs to steal the following vehicles:
April 15: Black 2025 Volvo EX90, valued at approximately $90,000
May 7: Gray 2025 Volvo EX90, valued at approximately $85,000
May 26: Black 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE, valued at approximately $37,168
Bonilla was arrested following a coordinated investigation by the Summit Police Detective Bureau and the Port Authority Police Department. After processing, he was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.
All three stolen vehicles have been recovered and returned to the dealership after processing.
