A man posing as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer was apprehended in the Jalesar area, according to an official statement on Sunday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Hemant Pratap Singh Bundela, a resident of the Kotwali Naka region in Lalitpur district.
Police revealed that the suspect had arrived in Jalesar to mediate a dispute while claiming to be an IPS officer. Station House Officer (SHO) Sudhir Kumar Raghav stated that the suspect’s suspicious behavior raised concerns, prompting further inquiry.
Bundela was arrested on Saturday after his conduct became increasingly suspicious. Despite wearing a khaki uniform, his mismatched attire caught the attention of the authorities, leading to the arrest.
An official case has been filed, and investigations are ongoing.
In a related incident, a 69-year-old man was detained for impersonating a retired IPS officer in a separate case. The individual, Anil Katyal, a resident of Greater Kailash-1 in Delhi, falsely claimed to be a retired IPS officer from the 1979 batch. Katyal had also fabricated an impressive career, stating he had served in senior roles, including as Director General of Police, Intelligence Bureau officer, and an advisor to the Union Home Ministry.
Katyal was arrested and a case has been registered against him, authorities confirmed.
