COLONIE, NY (WRGB) – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday morning on Wolf Road in Colonie.
According to the Colonie Police Department, Migdalia Aulet, 58, of Schenectady, was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Wolf Road around 6:30 a.m. The driver fled the scene, leaving Aulet with fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that she had not been in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
Suspect Arrested
After a thorough investigation, officers identified the suspect as 37-year-old Heath R. Mabeus of Clifton Park, NY. On Saturday morning, police located Mabeus and his vehicle at his home, where he was arrested without incident.
Mabeus was arraigned in Colonie Town Court on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Despite the severity of the case, he was released on his own recognizance.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident as the community mourns the loss of Migdalia Aulet.
