HAZLETON, PA – A horrifying discovery on Club 40 Road has prompted a region-wide manhunt. A woman’s body, later identified as Lockwood, was found bound and wrapped in a burning tarp near Broad Street in Hazleton.
The next day, a multi-agency raid was conducted at the Hazleton Heights home of a man named Ray. According to court documents, police found a large pool of blood with signs of a cleanup attempt, as well as an earring matching one still worn by Lockwood. Two live 9mm rounds were also located at the scene.
In the home’s trash, investigators found critical evidence: fabric matching the bindings, a wrapper for the tarp, a spent shell casing, and bloody paper towels.
Authorities believe Ray has fled the area. A confidential informant told police Ray admitted, “I f—ed up bad, I won’t see you guys again,” before turning off his phone. His wife and two children reportedly left Hazleton Saturday morning en route to upstate New York.
An arraignment has not yet been scheduled.
Lockwood was a Harwood firefighter and mother of two. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support her children, and a basket raffle fundraiser is planned for June.
