LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — A 52-year-old man from Hoover, Alabama, has been arrested after allegedly traveling to Limestone County with the intent to engage in sexual acts with a minor.
According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, Hayel Hasson believed he was communicating with a male juvenile online — but was actually speaking with an undercover investigator. Authorities say Hasson offered cash in exchange for sexual contact and arranged to meet the child in Athens, Alabama.
On Saturday, August 2, Hasson arrived in Athens, where he was immediately taken into custody by law enforcement.
He has been charged with:
Electronic solicitation of a child
Traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act
Human trafficking
Hasson is currently being held at the Limestone County Detention Center. He awaits an Aniah’s Law hearing, which could determine whether he is eligible for bond due to the severity of the charges.
