Haybe Farhan Aden Arrested for 2021 Ottawa Murder

Suspect Charged With Second-Degree Murder of Tyson Ndongozi

Ottawa police have arrested Haybe Farhan Aden (29) in connection with a 2021 shooting in Lowertown, which left 20-year-old Tyson Nkunzimana (Loris Tyson Ndongozi) dead and an 18-year-old man injured.

Arrest & Charges
Aden was arrested Tuesday after re-entering Canada at Toronto Pearson International Airport. He was immediately taken into custody and returned to Ottawa, where he was charged with:

Second-degree murder in Ndongozi’s death
Attempted murder of the 18-year-old survivor
A Canada-wide warrant had been issued for Aden’s arrest in July 2021, but his whereabouts remained unknown until now.

Victim’s Background & Community Impact
Ndongozi and his family immigrated to Ottawa from Burundi four years before his tragic death. He was shot while playing pick-up basketball with a friend, who also sustained gunshot wounds but survived.

His father, devastated by the loss, has since founded Tyson Dream, an initiative promoting youth sports and civic engagement to help combat gun violence in Ottawa.
