Haseeb Majid Found Guilty of Murder in Mohammed Khan Death

Haseeb Majid convicted after fatal machete attack on Mohammed Khan

by Amelia Crawford

Haseeb Majid has been found guilty of the brutal murder of 26-year-old Mohammed Duraab Khan, who was fatally stabbed 16 times with a machete at a Nottingham petrol station on 31 January 2024.

The attack took place at a fuel station in Meadow Lane, Nottingham, when Mr Khan and a friend stopped to refuel around 6:15 PM. As the friend filled the car, a man, later identified as Majid, wearing a black hooded coat and a covered face, ran onto the forecourt, wielding a large blade. Majid opened the car door and stabbed Mr Khan, launching a sustained attack when Mr Khan attempted to defend himself. Despite efforts from the public and paramedics, Mr Khan was pronounced dead at the scene around 6:50 PM.

After a police manhunt, Majid, 22, of Wilford Crescent East, was arrested the following morning. His arrest was linked to CCTV footage showing his car following Mr Khan’s vehicle just before the attack. Although Majid initially denied murder, CCTV evidence and his own injuries contradicted his claims, leading to his conviction for murder after a trial at Nottingham Crown Court. He will be sentenced at a later date.
