Hasan Sabree’s Charge Upgraded to Second-Degree Murder in Fatal Baton Rouge Shooting

Witness testimony reveals argument before shooting that killed Danyelle Dillard

BATON ROUGE, La. – A Baton Rouge man initially charged with negligent homicide after a fatal shooting on February 27 now faces a second-degree murder charge following new evidence in the case.

Incident Details
Hasan Sabree was arrested after 41-year-old Danyelle Dillard was shot and killed on Catalpa Street.
Sabree initially claimed the shooting was accidental, stating he saw Dillard remove bullets from the gun before he pulled the trigger.
However, detectives later received statements from a witness who said Sabree and Dillard were arguing before the shooting.
Charge Upgrades
After reviewing the witness testimony, authorities upgraded Sabree’s charge to second-degree murder.
He now also faces a domestic abuse charge with child endangerment.
Sabree remains in custody as the investigation continues.
